20i^ was founded by brothers Tim and Jonathan Brealey, the same duo behind major UK hosting names like Webfusion, 123 Reg and Heart Internet. Since launching in 2016, 20i has carved out a strong position in the British web hosting market. Its auto-scaling infrastructure and custom-built control panel offer a modern alternative to the usual cPanel setup.
At the time of writing this review, 20i holds an ‘Excellent’ rating on Trustpilot, based on 1,900 customer reviews.
The 20i Experience
I’ve worked with plenty of web hosts over the years, and 20i ranks among the very best I’ve used.
Support is one of their standout strengths. Response times are fast, and help is thorough – not just scripted replies.
What really sets 20i apart is the way it handles traffic. Their platform uses advanced load balancing and auto-scaling to keep sites operating without interruption, even under pressure. Traffic is spread across multiple servers, avoiding bottlenecks, while extra resources are added automatically when needed. It’s smart infrastructure, and it shows in the consistent uptime and solid performance.
20i’s UK servers are based in the Midlands, with a US data centre in Dallas for American customers. If you go with Google Cloud or AWS through 20i, you’ll get a broad list of global locations to choose from – useful if you’re targeting traffic outside the UK.
Reseller Heaven
If you are a web designer, an agency or just someone who wants to earn a little extra on the side, their white-label reseller plan is great value for money.
As a reseller, you get extensive hosting capabilities to support your customers, including:
- Unlimited websites and unrestricted resources
- Unlimited 10GB mailboxes
- Backups and vanity nameservers available as add-ons
- Free global CDN and DDoS protection
- Choice of Linux, WordPress, or Windows platforms
- Advanced WordPress manager
Additionally, you receive significant discounts on supplemental services like cloud hosting, SSL certificates, and domain names.
As a reseller, you can fully customise the customer experience with your own branding and colours, giving your business a polished, professional feel. 20i’s HostShop takes care of the eCommerce side, letting you bill customers directly without the need for third-party tools like WHMCS. It’s an all-in-one system for handling sales, billing, and customer management under your own brand.
You can pick from WordPress, Linux, or Windows platforms. The Linux option includes one-click installs for more than 80 apps, while the WordPress toolkit adds useful extras like staging environments, a built-in caching plugin, bulk updates, and user management tools. Their control panel is clean, intuitive, and built in-house, no cPanel in sight.
20i also offers fully managed cloud hosting. Plans start at £9.99 a month and come with their custom control panel, unlimited 10GB mailboxes, and smart features like auto-scaling.
20i Pricing
20i has moved entirely to fully managed cloud hosting across its platform. Prices are typically 40% to 50% higher than basic shared hosting, but the added cost reflects a clear step up in reliability, scalability and overall performance.
Their managed cloud setup lets users select between Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, or 20i’s own infrastructure. All plans include unlimited websites, daily backups, free SSLs, 10GB mailboxes, malware scanning, DDoS protection, and a global CDN. It’s a solid package that justifies the higher price with real value.

20i Verdict
I was initially disappointed to see that 20i had phased out their traditional shared hosting plans. That said, as a reseller, I still have full access to the shared platform, which remains a solid option for smaller sites. The shift to their new managed cloud hosting, however, is a welcome step forward. Previously, only platforms like Cloudways offered this kind of setup. Now, 20i lets you manage everything in one place while tapping into premium infrastructure from providers like AWS and Google Cloud.
For high-traffic WordPress sites or projects that demand more grunt, 20i is a strong contender. Their managed platform delivers on reliability, performance, security and scalability, with support tailored for WordPress users. If you’re looking for a hands-off hosting experience that can keep pace with growing demands, 20i is well worth a look.
As always, though, compare features, reputation and pricing before committing – not every host suits every site.
